Helping Hands Pharmacy
Cusco, Peru
The Helping Hands Pharmacy, or The Farmacia Amistad Peru - Estados Unidos, was founded with the goal of providing affordable medication and health education to the people of the San Sebastion district of Cusco. Currently, private for-profit pharmacies in the Cusco area charge exorbitant mark-ups on their medications, making prescriptions unaffordable for many citizens. By charging only a small mark-up to cover our operating costs, our pharmacy is able to sustain itself while providing a valuable service to the community.

Current Projects
In addition to providing low-cost medication through our pharmacy, we organize regular medical campaigns in rural communities surrounding Cusco. Many of these residents have never seen a doctor, and cannot afford to do so. With funding from our donors, we bring physicians who offer free medical consultations during these campaigns. Campaign participants also recieve their prescriptions at no cost from the Helping Hands Pharmacy.
The Helping Hands Pharmacy is also committed to raising awareness of important health practices in our community. Our current hand-washing campaign hopes to inform community members about the importance of practicing proper hand-washing practices. We distribute informational posters to local schools, as well as provide free bottles of hand-sanitizer that can be refilled at the Helping Hands Pharmacy
