Director Bio

Sindy Delgado Hi I�m the Current Director and the peruvian Spanish teacher with Teach Huaraz Peru. I am a qualified teacher in English and Spanish for Peruvian students of all ages, and am also qualified to teach Spanish as a second language to foreigners. I specialize in creating personalized Spanish courses and private tuition classes to suit learners of all levels, from beginners through to intermediate and advanced.

4 weeks cost $630 per each volunteer. This includes picking up the volunteer at the airport, scorting them to the placements by bus ( volunteers need to pay their transportation to the house, 8 hours from Lima to Huaraz, it costs around $20). Sometimes volunteers need to spend the night in Lima, it has a small cost of $20), once the volunteer arrives in Huaraz, accomodation includes a private room with a private bathroom, hot water 24 hours a day, laundry machines, three meals a day from Monday to Friday; volunteers are encouraged to cook on their own on Saturdays and Sundays with the food they can find in the fridge. There is internet access, and 24 hours of guidance and assitnace.

Accommodation Info

During a volunteer placement with Teach Huaraz Peru the opportunity is available to stay in the Delgado family home and fully experience typical family life in Peru. Community and family are important in Peruvian culture and this will become apparent very quickly while living with the Delgado�s. The homestay accommodation includes a private bedroom and bathroom with hot water in a separate building, 3 meals a day shared with the family. There are also laundry facilities and a shopping service for personal items.

Travel Logistics

We are ready to host 8 volunteers at once.

Ideally volunteers can stay minimum for 4 weeks, but opportunities are open if they want to stay for more time.

Current Projects:

Troubled Children:

We are currently seeking licensed and trained psychologists, as well as experts to aid in the development of a series of weekend getaways for troubled children in the area coming from schools. We believe that with the right staff nature can become a safe haven for the children. The weekends would include two to three nights camping in the surrounding areas and the development of a series of training sessions to teach children how to constructively respond to certain situations.On the other hand, to announce that we are expanding and start building the third story of the house,( June 2010) so in time we will set up an orphanage center where volunteers can support directly to children. In consequence, due to the growing need of funds, each volunteer that is interested to support troubled children and the future orphanage, needs to establish a fundraising effort (min. $300) before arriving and agree to aid leading the children and the building.The $200 placement fee does not take the place of the necessary fundraising but will be spent on food, medicine, transportation, and clothes for the children in the program.Once the program is established, we welcome volunteers of varying experience to aid the in implementation of the weekend getaways.
