Director Bio

John Bosco Ssenyondo am 26 years old, with a bachelors degree in Guidance and Counseling,I was inspired to found CHILDLINE Uganda because of an experience I had as a student in university.I saw two children come for HIV testing. One was seven and the other was two and a half. I learned that their parents had passed, and that their neighbors had taken the responsibility to care for them. Yet this day, they came alone. At the hospital no one attended to them; they just continued standing at the reception waiting in a confused state.I led them to the counseling and testing room

food- $5 dollars aday at times we cost share transport- 52 permonth to the project areas, our work is mostly based on field work , at times we may move by foot to near by areas lodging- 65 permonth

Accommodation Info

Food will Includes three meals per day plus evening tea and drinking water. Guests may stay in shared rooms. Bucket showers are available, also squat toilet located outside the house

Travel Logistics

Childline Uganda is approximately 70 km from entebbe airport. on the arrival volunteers will be picked by a staff of childline using a van who will lead them to the organisation promises in mityana district. it is a proximately 500 meters from the volunteer house to the office and 30 km from the office to fields of work

Current Projects:

Naama Psychosocial Counseling Project (NPCP):

Many orphans and vulnerable children experience great distress, trauma and depression. Mental or psychological stress affects children and has a negative impact on their emotional and mental development and well-being. Mental and spiritual support is as important as material support to orphans and vulnerable children development and ability to live well-balanced lives in the future.rnrnSo, the Naama Psychosocial Counseling Project (NPCP), is aimed at providing psychosocial support, that will enable orphans and vulnerable children in Naama Parish in Busimbi Sub-county in Mityana district to strengthen their inner resources in order to cope with and overcome the many challenges they face in the day to day life. The project involves supporting orphans and vulnerable children with counseling care and guidance, conducting outreaches to different school communities where the different orphans from the community go to.rnrnProject Objectivesrnrn To ensure proper provision of guidance and counseling services to orphans and vulnerable children in Naama community in Busimbi Sub-county in Mityana districtrn To begin a transition by improving the quality of life style of the orphans and vulnerable children through providing or supporting them with life skills, behavioral change (attitude, practice and knowledge) in Naama community in Busimbi Sub-county in Mityana district.rn
