Current Projects
We have now completed volunteer operations in Haiti. While our volunteers are no longer working in Haiti, we are continuing our support of Haitian earthquake survivors with our Scholarship Programme and our English Programme.
You can find the full details of our completed projects on our Projects and Programmes page.
Partner Needs
Volunteers drive our programmes and projects both at home and abroad. The work of our volunteers not only directly helps earthquake survivors, but also keeps our organisation's overheads very low, ensuring that your donation goes directly to those who need it most, not into wasteful administration costs.
We always need both volunteers and donations to make sure that our work in Haiti can continue to change lives.
Financial Needs
We are currently seeking funding to keep 100 children in school so that they can complete primary school at a cost of approximately $24,000 a year. Over the next six years, the programme will cost about $144,000.
We are also seeking funding to keep our English Classes open and growing. The cost of running five weekly classes for 100 students is $17,000 a year.
Detailed budgets on either of these programmes are available on request. Please email Media@EDVolunteers.org.
In Kind Needs
We do not currently require any in kind donations.
Mission Statement
At EDV we believe that to provide meaningful relief and reconstruction assistance to disaster affected communities around the world we have to do more than reconstruct buildings. We need to understand and address the factors that made a community vulnerable to the disaster in the first place. Our work will be organised with these factors in mind so that we can affect change that far outlives our presence. Furthermore, we will make this information available to all volunteers so that they will be empowered to affect positive, long-term change in their day to day lives as well as while volunteering.
