Global Journal Project

Carlsbad, USA

Each chapter of the Global Journal Project is a three-school collaboration and a student-run business under the umbrella of Omprakash, a U.S.-registered nonprofit. The model is simple: three schools form a partnership in which one is a grassroots education project in the Omprakash network.

Current Projects

The inaugural Chapter of the Global Journal Project, the print and online magazine Global Vantage, involves Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (Kibera, Kenya), The Taft School (Watertown, CT), and Pacific Ridge School (Carlsbad, CA).

Global Vantage seeks to:

--shed light on the range of perspectives and experiences of its
member communities
--raise awareness and understanding of global issues
--encourage discussion concerning these issues

We:

--collect articles from any member of the partner-school communities, including students, faculty, and alumni
--include a broad range of topics
--promote open and mutually and culturally respectful dialogue

Partner Needs

Anyone who wishes to use materials in any of the Chapters, either in print or online, may do so at no cost and with proper permission and citation. All materials can be used for educational purposes, and none may be used for profit not benefiting the three-school collaboration.

Financial Needs

To help us maintain a no-cost business model aimed at getting classrooms to use the materials in the magazine, please donate to the Global Journal Project on www.omprakash.org or on our site. All proceeds, minus the costs of publication and bank transfers, will go to specific initiatives determined by a committee representing all three schools. Donors may choose from a predetermined list of initiatives and will receive updates on project progress and impact.

For more details, visit any Chapter and click on Our Projects.

Mission Statement

The Project allows for a cross-cultural exchange among the three schools and offers a vehicle for each of those schools to share with its local communities the voices and perspectives from other parts of the world.

The Global Journal Project’s three-school model is meant to be replicated, with one Omprakash Partner collaborating with two other schools. If you would like to form a chapter at your school, please contact Steve Le at stevenle@thegjp.org for more information.
