Excellent situation & organisation.
Did you feel like you made a difference?:
Yes - I felt the children & staff benefited from my input.
Organization and communication:
The placement was well organised & communication good.
Accommodation:
Accommodation at the school was basic but good with excellent meals.
Safety:
At no time did I feel insecure!
I had an exellent & rewarding experience at this placement.
The school is owned by an inspirational, gifted & devoted headteacher, Pooja Dwivedi. I taught English to small classes of very receptive children. I was given a free hand to use my own practice & the children progressed rapidly & happily.
The school is situated in an area of outstanding beauty where life is very simple providing a wonderful contrast to the hectic pace of European urban life.
I felt part of the community and found the whole experience very rewarding.
I would like to return.

Hosted by fantastic family, you really contribute to an Indian school
Did you feel like you made a difference?:
Indian children are loving to learn. At the school they learned English, so you can really conversate with them.
Organization and communication:
Host Pooja is quick and helpful. Moreover, she understands that as volunteer you also want to see the country, and helps you in making nice trips.
Accommodation:
Accommodation near the school is very basic but clean. Don't expect hot water (except after boiling) or central heating, but hey, you can do without.
Safety:
I never felt unsafe
When I arrived at the place of host Pooja and her lovely family, I immediately felt at home. Throughout my stay I have had nice care and food. Pooja is very open and I learned a lot about Indian culture, for example by visiting weddings and fireside chats. At the time there were two or three other volunteers and one or two Indian staff members. At the small school I gave lessons in computer. There were books available but I was free to make my own program, to better match the world of the kids. I really liked the kids, who wanted to play but were also eager to learn. I can highly recommend this school if you want to experience Indian life.
