Movement for Rural Emancipation does some truly astounding work with persons with disabilities. Their mandate is to find ways to rehabilitate the disabled in their communities, without resorting to institutionalization.I have to admit I was skeptical at first. Prasad, the man at MORE's helm is fond of using technical terminology and acronyms, a habit which never fails to make me think of meaningless buzzwords like 'utilize' or 'dialogue' (the verb).After spending a few days shadowing Prasad, I found that his favourite acronym "CBR' was anything but a buzzword. CBR stands for Community Based Rehabilitation, and the workers who make it a reality are compassionate, well trained and conscientious. Pacific Ridge School, Kearny High School, and Cathedral Catholic High School--all in North County San Diego--are joining hands and working with Omprakash Partner MORE to help Ravi Aluganti build a Children's Resource Centre in rural India.The CRC has two  main goals: (A) To serve students at 5 rural schools within a one-kilometer radius of the Centre, giving students the freedom to learn and explore at their own pace. The CRC will provide resources for hands-on learning of math, the sciences, and arts and craft. With a paid director and staff, children will learn by discussing and experiencing, increasing their love for learning and education.   (B) To engage volunteers in the students’ learning process, by identifying and training both local and global volunteers.
