DEPDC/GMS
Mae Sai,Chiang Rai, Thailand
DEPDC/GMS is a non-profit community-based NGO working in Thailand and the Greater Mekong Sub-region. DEPDC/GMS works to prevent human trafficking through education, prevention, outreach and youth leadership programs. Through this four-prong module, DEPDC/GMS helps prevent girls and boys from entering commercial sex work or other exploitative labor such as the fishing and construction industries, in factories or in the agricultural sector.
DEPDC/GMS offers free education, accomodation and protectoin to at-risk individuals. It also runs several other projects and activities aimed at the prevention of trafficking and the provision of child rights in the region - an emergency shelter for abused or abandoned children, care and repatriation for girls who have left commercial sex work, youth leadership training to combat trafficking in the Mekong Sub-Region and community outreach and networking for human rights awareness and advocacy.
Since its inception DEPDC/GMS has helped over 4,000 children through education, protection, life skills training, youth leadership and media development.

Partner Needs
Volunteers! Volunteer duties can include anything from teaching English, visitor coordination, becoming a part of the administrative staff, training staff and directors in a particular skill you may possess, writing blog posts, producing and editing our quarterly newsletter, writing grant proposals and reports, deejaying a weekly radio program or creating your own activities for the children. The sky is the limit! Most volunteers leave DEPDC/GMS having had a life-changing experience. It is a rewarding experience for everyone involved!
Financial Needs
Non-governmental organizations suffer significantly from the global economic crisis. DEPDC/GMS needs funding at all times to operate its programs and pay its staff. Any contribution - small or large - is greatly appreciated.
Mission Statement
To reduce cross-border human trafficking activity among the most vulnerable of society in Northern Thailand and in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. We work on a grassroots level to promote prevention education, increase community awareness and build strong regional anti-trafficking networks.
