International Volunteer
DEPDC/GMS asks for a volunteer commitment of at least six months. Exceptions are possible if you have a track record of outstanding skills or previous volunteer experience. All volunteer positions are self-funded. Accommodation is not included. DEPDC/GMS is a non-profit NGO that uses all financial resources to fund its programs, activities and staff. Please ensure that you make the necessary arrangements before you arrive. Previous volunteers have financed their volunteerism with private fundraisers. Weaccept volunteers from all walks of life. We are always seeking volunteers with previous grant writing experience as well as indiviudals with strong IT skills.

Cost for Volunteers
Our volunteers are self-funded meaning they are not paid to be volunteers. At the same time, DEPDC/GMS does not charge volunteers to be here. We believe your time, dedication and committment are more than enough. We value our international volunteers try to make their experience here as rewarding as possible.
Costs to live in Mae Sai, Thailand
- Average apartment = 3,000 baht per month
- Monthly utilities including water, wifi, electric = 300 baht per month
- Cost of motorbike = 18,000 baht to purchase outright (can sell back for nearly full value)
- Cost of one Thai meal = 30 to 45 baht
On average life in Mae Sai is pretty inexpensive. Volunteers can get by here comfortably on $3 to $6 USD per day. *Please note, this does not include recreational activites and weekend travel.
