Current Projects
The EFF's primary program is assisting needy students to attend secondary school. We have three projects addressing this concern: 1) our main sponsorship program which sponsors male and female students throughout Kenya, 2) a regional program in the Rift Valley particularly aimed at sponsoring just Maasai girls, and 3) a regional program in Coast Province to help students from Bodo Village to attend secondary school. The EFF is currently expanding our outreach and hopes to establish regional offices in each Province of Kenya in order to assist as many students as possible.
The EFF also runs a training program for all of our sponsored students, called the Life Skills & Leadership Training Program. This training seeks to better prepare students for their journey in secondary school by providing them with valuable tools and skills in order to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Partner Needs
Our project currently accepts short and long-term volunteers to work with us in the US and in Kenya. Volunteers in the US will be based either in Minneapolis, MN or in Washington, DC and will assist EFF with fundraising, grant writing, and administrative work. All living costs must be covered by the volunteer.
Volunteers in Kenya will be placed at one of our regional centres and will work on existing projects with our Nairobi Director and local project coordinators. This can include visiting EFF sponsored students and their schools, volunteering at schools, supporting student trainings and more. EFF seeks volunteers who have experience in education, international education, working with youth, and a strong passion for human rights and learning about new cultures. Volunteers must cover all expenses except for a phone which EFF will provide.
Financial Needs
Our organization's primary need is donations toward student sponsorships. It costs $450 per year to sponsor a high school student, which covers their tuition, room and board, uniforms, and books. For people unable to commit to $450 per year, half ($225) and partial ($112.50) sponsorships are also possible. We also accept donations towards our general fund, which is used to help schools purchase textbooks, sponsor extra students, or conduct student trainings.
In Kind Needs
Schools that we partner with are always in need of books, therefore, if you are able to either send books or bring books as a volunteer, this donation would be highly appreciated. Please contact us for more information about the kinds of books most needed.
Mission Statement
The Education for the Future Foundation's Mission is to make access to secondary school education in Kenya available to as many students as possible through providing the most needy and driven students with sponsorships.
