Partner Needs
I realize humbly that without the help of organizations and friends like you we would have not been able to accomplish different projects and I am deeply thankful to all of you who have helped in the past and trust that you will continue to labor with us to improve the Golog society in particularly the fate of our women. We hope you will take the time to check out details as you click on the various options of info.
Financial Needs
Our efforts are presently focused on securing the financial footing and expanding the Sengcham Drukmo Girls Home. We are also working to address the root causes of poverty for single mothers in out area. Since starting this project, many single mothers and poor families have contacted us and asked us to take their girls and educate them.
We are frustrated that we cannot take them all, but hope we can do something to improve the lives of these poor families in a sustainable way. Thus, we are also soliciting donations to support gifts of livestock or warm winter housing which are so important to keep these families on their land. Leaving the grassland for town can mean the eventual loss of use-rights, or rights to the proceeds of renting the land, which can lead to even worse impoverishment, especially for the children. This ultimately will contribute in wiping out our Tibetan heritage and culture.
Mission Statement
At the Sengcham Drukmo Girls Home, we are committed to the welfare and healthy development of girls and women, in order to strengthening families and communities. We acknowledge the importance of the family in raising girls to become caring, responsible members of society. We encourage women and our older girls to act as role models to the younger ones. We see the greatest need and the greatest hope, in young girls from homes broken by divorce, poverty or other tragedy. We strive to give our girls the respect and the opportunity for a quality education that every child deserves.
In all our efforts, we hope to provide resources to enable girls and women eventually to stand up on their own, become productive members of society, even future leaders who will serve their communities with wisdom and compassion, leading the way into the 21st century.
As Nehru said, ”If you educate a man, you educate a person, If you educate a woman, you educate an entire family." So we help girls to right the wrongs of our backward traditions and history, and to improve the future of all of our people.
