I could only work with Expand Peru for a short two weeks before I had to return to school. When I arived in Huancayo late at night, Bernabé (The founder) and Ingrid (The coordinator) were waiting for me. They brought me to a local restuarnt that had amazing food and we quickly got to know each other and what I would be doing during my time there. My bad spanish mixed with Ingrids decent english made communcation easy. I learned that above anything else, school supplies, building supplies, etc, they needed more volunteers. The purpose of these stories is to tell about how myself, and two other students planned, organized, and implemented a trip to Peru in order to aid three Omprakash Partners through video documentation. In these stories, I want to provide a model for other students and volunteers who wish to do something similar. Day 1 (5/24) - After a long day of travel that began early this morning, we (Vance, Alex, Jon, and I) landed in Lima around 9pm, and met up with our guide (Gaby). Then we headed to our Hostel in Mira Flores, Lima. :) After taking a few minutes to refresh, we headed out to find some dinner. On the way we got to see a quick glimpse of the city at night. So grateful to be here!!!!Day 2 (5/25) - Today we did a quick city tour of Lima and then headed to Expand Peru in Huancayo on a fairly long bus ride. This is my first blog, and it is durring my stay in Peru. I am only going to talk about certain things now because I am keeping my full blog offline until I get back and I can have the appropriate time to edit.I am currently in Peru with Chiara, Alex, and Vance. We have thus far hit two of the organizations we plan to cover during our stay. So far the trip has been a lot of fun and for me personally has gone pretty well. Hello everyone! It is currently around 11PM on May 24th and I am too anxious to fall asleep. We leave tomorrow morning at 2:30AM and travel up to LAX where we will then fly to Lima. All 4 of us, myself, Chiara N, Jon L, and Vance W, are very excited to be leaving to go to Peru.
