Volunteers are responsible for their transportation costs to and from Nepal, as well as within the country. Meals are taken at Ama Ghar with the children, mostly home grown vegetarian food. Volunteers tutor the children after school in English, computer science, social studies and math; they also participate in sports and art projects, home repairs and special outings. Volunteers are invited to create their own special projects and outings, with the approval of the Ama Ghar staff.

Ama Foundation welcomes all ages and skill levels to visit Ama Ghar in Nepal. However, it is important the visitor brings with them an openness to share with the children something of his or her culture, talents, or resources. Many teach music, dance, toutor this children in math, science, english or other disciplines.
We ask that visitors be flexible to the children's schedule and the rhythms of the Ama Ghar household. Please view Ama Foundation's "Volunteer Criteria" Document posted on this site.
