Current Projects
AFCECO plans to help the most suffering Afghan kids at various levels, which does not include only food, clothing and shelter but proper education, health care and a safe and nurturing environment. These objectives are accomplished by different activities such as having quality orphanages and schools, child health care clinics and various publications and workshops. AFCECO aims to bring up the next generation of Afghan citizens that are badly affected by the three decades of war in Afghanistan. We implement creative solutions to this legacy of war, perhaps even to create a new brand of leadership in our country. AFCECO plans to work with international partners to implements its projects for the children. At present, AFCECO works closely with CharityHelp International (www.charityhelp.org), a US-based organization on project called Child Sponsorship Program (www.charityhelp.org/afceco). Nearly 850 children who have been sponsored by individuals around the world are being cared by AFCECO orphanages in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Financial Needs
There are a variety of materials needed to enrich the children's lives, but the shipment of materials is just about prohibitive, because of the expense of shipment and also the government exorbitant customs fee on everything that comes in. Still, things like books, movies, computer supplies, firewood for winter, clothing are always on the list. That is why the best thing people can do is fundraise, and put money towards specific needs through our partner, CharityHelpInternational. Presently, the biggest project is to raise enough money to purchase our own building to house at least the offices and supplies and the girls and boys of Mehan and Sitara orphanages in Kabul. Year to year we are at the mercy of landlords who raise the lease dramatically.
