Cost for Volunteers
Volunteers cover their own transportation and per diem costs, which are used to fund operating costs and employ several Haitian staff on base. The per diem cost is US$20 per day which includes two meals per day, wifi access, 24/7 security, drinking water, and a space to pitch a tent. Tents with mattresses and rooms are also available for rent. For more information on the pricing structure please see our Newcomer’s Guide, which can be found on the Volunteer page at www.haiti.communitere.org.
Volunteer Placement Logistics
Haiti Communitere is not your typical disaster relief organization, and our Volunteer Program is a reflection of that. We don’t run massive demolition or building projects. We work to develop and foster an individual’s ideas and passion to help them develop their own project either as part of Haiti Communitere or as a partner organization/individual.
We encourage new volunteers to spend time getting to know and understand the country they have just arrived in and discover where they feel they can best place themselves to get the most out of their time with us and here in Haiti. Many of the projects that have the greatest success are the ones that are developed in-country.
For more information and to begin the application process, please visit our Volunteer page at www.haiti.communitere.org, or email us at volunteer@haiti.communitere.org.
Volunteer Skills Needed
We welcome volunteers based on their ability to contribute to the projects currently on-going in Haiti. That means that we need to know that you’re healthy enough to live and work in Haiti, ready and willing to work hard and take directions, and won’t face any challenge, physical or otherwise, that would inhibit your ability to work with us.
French/Creole language skills for Haiti based projects are helpful, but not required.
