The members of the Huacas Association voted yesterday at 8pm in favor of donating a piece of land of 1000 m2 in Huacas (behind the public school) to the organization CEPIA!!! (see pictures here under)
We deeply thank the Huacas village members for their support and trust!
The principal idea is the construction of an Integral Community Centre. The project was presented to the community with an architectural design of arch. Melina d’Alolio and a presentation of the project by Laetitia Deweer, Board President of CEPIA, with the support of 3 Board members of CEPIA (Gerardo Brenes, Caroline Lemaire y Michael García). Cesar Abarca Angulo, Board member of the Huacas association will take place on the CEPIA Board of Directors to strengthen the communication and strategic work between the institutions.
The Integral Community Centre consists of a centre of prevention and educational, psychological and recreational attention, for the children, teenagers and adults from low-income families of the communities of Santa Cruz aimed at attending integrally the necessities of the population and improving their quality of life. The following activities and services will freely be offered: Night high school CINDEA; after school program in sports, arts, English, informatics and recreation; psychology and education; support to children and mothers in extreme poverty; trainings for teenagers excluded from school; trainings (beauty, English,etc); Public library and internet café; environmental education and recycling; support for public schools; Cultural events; scholarships; meeting room for all the groups of the civil society; inter-institutional work; volunteering; etc.
We need to find 150 000 000 colones (300 000 $US) for the construction of the building.
