Since one of my undergraduate majors was Spanish Language and Literature, the region I am most interested in is Latin America. The Latin American countries I've visited include Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia.
I am also interested in Europe, and have visited a total of 15 different European countries, including spending a summer living in Dusseldorf, Germany after high school, and later on spending a year studying abroad and working in Madrid, Spain.
Skills
I volunteered as a preschool teacher at Hogar de Esperanza orphanage from March-August 2010. My class was made up of 1-4 year olds. Prior to going to Peru, I had two years of experience teaching English to native Spanish-speakers (ranging in age from 2 to 70 years old) in both Spain and the U.S. I also had about ten years of previous experience working with children, including babysitting, working as a summer camp counselor, tutoring, working at a before- and after-school day care, instructing rock-climbing, archery, riflery, and canoeing at a YMCA camp's outdoor recreation center, and working as a personal service provider for children with developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders.
As a psychology graduate, I have a special interest in the field of mental health, and in 2009 I spent a semester interning at a therapy clinic for adolescents with juvenile delinquency offenses and their families.
I do not have any professional photography experience, but I did take four semesters of black and white photography classes in high school, and have since become a pretty capable digital photographer.
