Skills
I'm a trained youth worker and have been working with young people for nearly 10 years. I have experience of working as a volunteer and as a member of staff in projects across the UK which work alongside disadvantaged young people and communities. I have experience in several areas of work with young people including safe sexual health promotion and drug and alcohol awareness. I am a hard working individual and I can turn my hand to anything. I have experience of working with practical projects including animal care, building and construction and fundraising projects.
I have just finished one month in The Gambia making videos for the Global Youth Video Project (GYVP) and I am now in Lagos, Nigeria working with Hope for HIV/AIDS International to help them develop their organisation and to complete more videos with young people for GYVP.
With a strong background in human rights based work and a history in the management of local projects I am now looking to work and volunteer away from the UK.
I am currently delivering my own project which is called the Global Youth Video Project. The projects aims are to work with young people to combat ignorance and prejudice across the world and to promote the work of charities and organisations through the use of the internet. By working with charities to make their own videos I hope to raise the profile and funding opportunities of the organisations I visit and I am hoping to deliver this project with any projects that I volunteer with.
