Want to know what it might be like to volunteer abroad?
Omprakash volunteers have been posting stories, photos and even videos from their time abroad since 2007. We now have an extensive collection of personal stories from volunteers who've worked with our partners abroad. You can browse through the most recent stories below or use the category selection tool to narrow your search. Alternatively click on the Stories tab for each organization we work with to see specific accounts from a particular organization. Be careful - you might lose a couple hours of your day in here! Happy reading.
My month at SKIPprint story
July 24, 2012
The month i have been here with skip has passed by incredibly quickly but it has definitely been a worthwhile experience. Each volunteer brings something different to skip but they are all motivated by similar goals and take their roles seriously. I have learnt a lot about the organisation and really value the philosophies that it is based upon - i believe that the continued committed from volunteers will ensure that it continues to grow and develop in a positive way. The kids are wonderful (although challenging at times!) and the amount of energy they bring to every class is incredible. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with them and helping to make a small difference to their educational lives. The set up of the volunteer house means that there's never a dull moment, there's always something going on and new people to meet. My only regret is not being able to stay longer- i have a strong feeling that i'll be a returning volunteer one day!
