Volunteer with SDI Cameroon Teenage Mothers Projectprint story
December 03, 2011
I had a very good experience with Social Development International (SDI). The workers were very welcoming from the first day I submitted my application to volunteer with them to the last day of my volunteering service with them.
I was given the opportunity to use my skills as a social worker and discover some hidden talents. I was also given the opportunity to face the target population with social problem identification and problem sovling innovation target such as teenage mothers, orphans and vulnerable children. I was able to analyse their social problems with the help of the social theories and principles studied at the university. We had several meetings with tole teenage mothers and discussed on mothers health, child care, education, nutrition and personal dvelopment. I wish I had another opportunity to visit the the project site to do more field work with SDI.
I am very thankful to SDI for the opportunity given me to lay a foundation for my career as a social worker.
