What Is This?

Join Colby's DavisConnects Summer Internship Program '25 to access immersive independent internships, a trusted pathway for academic credit and faculty support, and a digital space for shared learning and mentorship.

This program is a collaboration between DavisConnects and Omprakash, a global education nonprofit with Maine roots.

This program will help you:

Independently apply for and secure internships in the US and around the world;
Access mentorship and peer support to enrich your global learning and professional development;
Build a digital portfolio to showcase your experience for future employers and graduate schools;
Earn academic credit via a faculty sponsor.

This program is open to all Colby students who are pursuing internships during Summer 2025, regardless of their field or topic of interest.

We will support you to find an internship that matches your personal and professional goals, and we offer a choice between two different tracks for learning and reflection to enrich your internship experience: Seeking True North and Beyond Good Intentions.

How Does It Work?

The DavisConnects Summer Internship Program '25 combines independent internships with a shared structure for mentorship, reflection, and digital storytelling.

Here's how it works:

As soon as possible:

1. Register below to get started!
2. Browse and apply for internships using resources from DavisConnects and Omprakash (or find an internship independently).

By May '25:

3. Confirm your internship and choose a program track which will best support your personal goals for learning and growth.
4. Confirm your faculty sponsor and register with MyColby to earn credit.

During Summer '25:

5. Participate in your internship, engage in online learning and reflection alongside Colby peers & EdGE Mentors, and build a Digital Portfolio documenting your experience.

Two Tracks for Learning & Reflection

We offer students the choice between two different program tracks to help students engage in more structured learning and reflection throughout their internship experience. Each track is open to all students regardless of their internship details, and offers customized multimedia content for reflection and discussion via the EdGE online learning platform.

Track 1: Seeking True North

This track supports students who want to reflect on their career goals, refine their professional skills, and prepare for their next steps after Colby. Key themes include interpersonal dynamics, critical thinking, and effective leadership and communication. By helping you orient towards your “True North,” this track helps you test and refine your interests while forging your own distinctive path.

Track 2: Beyond Good Intentions

This track helps students engage in critical dialogue and reflection about the complexities of striving for justice and positive social change while crossing differences of culture and power. Designed to support students who are interning with grassroots social impact organizations around the world, this track explores vital questions about community engagement, global 'development,' neocolonial power dynamics, and storytelling for social change.

Who Should Join This Program?

If you're looking to pursue any type of internship this summer, the Colby DavisConnects Summer Internship Program '25 is the place for you!

Please register below if you plan to do any of the following during Summer 2025:

Intern with a government agency, a large corporation, or a small business from Waterville to Washington to Wuhan, or anywhere in between!
Intern with a grassroots nonprofit and/or social impact organization in the US or abroad working in a field such as health, education, the environment, human rights advocacy, migration, or social entrepreneurship.
Receive internship funding from Colby sources including:*
- DavisConnects
- The Oak Institute for Human Rights Internship Grant
- The Bunche Scholarship

*Students who receive funding through any of these programs will be required to register in the DavisConnects Summer Internship Program '25 in order to access their funds.

If you're not sure about your plans, please just go ahead and register below! Admins from DavisConnects and Omprakash will review your information and then reach out to you via email to guide you in your next steps.

We encourage students to register as soon as possible in order to have ample time to plan their internships; please note that funding opportunities through DavisConnects are open between March 10 to March 21.

This program technically runs from June 1 to August 15, 2025, but students who register early will be able to get started on key logistical tasks earlier.
