'Solidarity & Storytelling across Differences' is a free online space open to thinkers, learners, teachers, and doers around the world who want to examine the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic through an intersectional lens and share their own perspectives and experiences.
In a moment when many people are wondering how to move relationships and learning into a digital realm without sacrificing intimacy, creativity, and critical reflection, we are excited to offer this as a space for inspiration and connection.
The self-paced program revolves around shared dialogue and discovery, not lectures or powerpoints. Participants engage with interdisciplinary multimedia content within a curated classroom, and then create their own posts to document how this pandemic looks and feels in their own particular contexts.
The curated classroom content helps participants:
- Situate themselves within this pandemic and the broader structures of inequality it illuminates and exacerbates
- Consider and practice digital storytelling as a mode of consciousness-raising and transformation
- Tend to vital issues of self-care and community resilience
After completing the classroom, participants retain ongoing access to the platform to share stories, build relationships, and learn from peers.
This program is created by Omprakash, a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to "facilitating relationships, dialogue, and learning between social change agents around the world."
We are hosting 'Solidarity & Storytelling across Differences' within EdGE (Education through Global Engagement), a customizable online learning ecosystem that we have been cultivating since 2012. Typically EdGE is only accessible to our network of Partner organizations and volunteers, but in this moment of isolation and uncertainty, we are humbled by the opportunity to share this space with all who would benefit from a kindred community.
